Nutritional Value of Pears

Pears are very high in nutritional value.

They are rich in:

Fiber
Vitamin C
Vitamin K
Copper
Potassium
Zinc
Phosphorus
Iron
Niacin
Riboflavin

Pears have anti-oxidant qualities. Pears help to balance blood pressure; lower cholesterol; protect the immune system; aid in calcium absorption; reduceĀ macular degeneration; reduce risk of colon problems; and, help with menopausal symptoms.

In folkloric tradition, a tea made from pear skins would be made to strengthen the lungs, especially the Asian pear as it has more of the constituent that repairs and rebuilds the lungs.
