Pear Crumble

1 cup oats
½ cup chopped nuts (whatever is on hand – pecans, walnuts or almonds)
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup butter
4 Tbsp flour
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp ginger
Dash nutmeg
6 cups sliced pears
¼ cup water

Place sliced pears in a greased baking dish. In a bowl, mix together sugar, oats, flour, and spices. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add nuts. Sprinkle mixture over pears.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes or until bubbly.

OPTION: This crumble is also great with apples or with peaches instead of pears.

OPTION: Add cranberries if you like. Be sure to play with spices to fit your taste!
