LINK Cold Frame Construction Workshop Series

A cold frame is a transparent-roofed enclosure, built low to the ground, used to protect plants from cold weather. The transparent top admits sunlight and prevents heat escape via convection that would otherwise occur, particularly at night. Essentially, a cold frame functions as a miniature greenhouse to extend the growing season.

The mission of the LINK Cold Frame Construction Workshop Series is to help Stone County growers extend their growing seasons. Since late November, 2011, we’ve placed five 13′ by 50′ cold frames on active farms. We’ll be placing three more during February.

If you’re interested in learning a low-cost (but sturdy), cold frame construction method, this workshop is for you! Our workshops are free, but space is limited. To register, send us an email from this page, from our Contact Us page, or call us at 870-213-5785.

Following are workshops scheduled for February:

February 6, 2012 – Stargap Farm (Rain date, February 10)

February 18, 2012 – Ozark Folk Center

February 21, 2012 – Ratchford Farm, Marshall (Rain Date, February 24)
